Bugy Jump!!!

Today I did the highest bugy jump in the world and can honistly say it was the most petrifying thing I have ever done. It was fine until I got onto the bridge and even then I didn't feel too bad until I was stood with my toes over the edge looking down 216 metres knowing I had to jump. Just the first bounce after you've jumped is higher than any any other bungy jump in the world so it was kind of like doing two jumps at once. After jumping off the bridge I fell down and down and down which was horrid and then bounced back up which was amazing fun and then fell down and down again which was as bad as the first time. This then happened about 3 or 4 more times but each time was a little less horrid. It was crazy to keep going from being absolutely terrified to having so much fun it made me laugh and laugh and then back to being terrified again. Once you've stopped bouncing you have to hang there convinced that the bungy's going to fall off you feet until someone abseils down to bring you back up. I don't think I'll be doing that again in a hurry!

The mountains, the city and the beach

After Pretoria we stayed in a hostel in the middle of nowhere with water (which we had to shower in) that smelt like cat pee but we had an amazing time all the same. We went to the top of the worlds 2nd tallest waterfall, Tugela falls, which involved climbing a huge gully to get to the top and decending 2 long ladders attatched to the side of the cliffe on the way down. I'm glad I've had plenty of practice on ladders because it wouldn't have been nice to fall and no one used ropes! The view was amazing although the waterfall was just a trickle as the rainy season hasn't yet started. We had great fun taking photos of each other about to jump to our death!
We stayed a couple of nights in Durban and went on a tour of part of the town and one of the townships. Our guide was someone who lived in the township and we saw inside his house which is one of the nicer ones that the government are building to try and move people out of the shacks. We also looked in his home before he moved out, where his family still live. There really was nothing there. Just a couple of rooms with one bed for a whole family. It was a huge reminder of how lucky we are in England.
Our next stop was the beach, where we learnt to surf. Despite consuming more sea water than ever before I can now actually stand up on a surf board! We had a jungle themed party at our hostel which involved making our costumes out of plants. It was a very funny evening!
The nicest place we've been to so far is a place called Cintsa. We arrived when it was dark so had no idea what was around outside. When I woke up in the morning I opened the curtains to find the nicest view over the trees to a lagoon and on to the beach and then the sea. We were able to volunteer at a local primary school for a day and a half where we helped with gardening and played with the children who were so cool! They put on a concert whilst we were there, they can certainly sing! The hostel also put on a free activity in the evenings with free wine. The activety we did was cannoeing. It was so much fun, but may be a little less of the wine would have been a good idea - everyone fell in many times which was fine but now cheryl and I are now covered in cuts and bruises.
We go on to our next stop at 6 tomorrow morning so I'm shortly off to sleep!

Having such a good time here in SA. Just been on a 4 day safari in the Kruger National Park which was absolutely amazing. We saw so many different types animals really, really close to up. Most of the time we were in a people carrier type thing but we also did some walking and went in an open top vehicle. At one point we drove through the middle of about 20 elephants and right at the end of our second day a cheater ran across the road in front of us, crouched down right below the window of the car and just stared up at me with huge round eyes before running off. He was cool! We slept in tents for 2 nights (although they did have beds in them!) and on the last night stayed in a really luxurious lodge where we had such a tasty dinner served to us outside around a huge fire and even a cooked breakfast in the morning.
One night we went on a night time safari which set off just before the sun was setting. As the sun set we stopped off for a drink (which we'd brought with us) and played an african spitting game. The winner was the person who could spit a jiraffe poo pelet the furthest.....lovely! On our way back to the hostel we stopped off at the largest green gorge in the world. I think it must be one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen.
